Case Summary:
In this case, the client that we had the pleasure of working with was a Taekwondo athlete from Romania. As a 4th Degree Black Belt, he is considered a Master in the sport. His achievements are numerous, including having won 18 nationally or internationally recognized awards in taekwondo competitions throughout Romania and the world. In addition, his success in the sport has won him a great deal of international acclaim, as shown by his membership in selective organizations, the media coverage he has received, and his selection to judge other athletes in the sport. Through 14 years of training and competition, he has risen to the very top of the taekwondo world, and thus qualified as an individual of extraordinary ability. His superior level of expertise was confirmed in the following quote from an independent recommender, “As a large and ever growing organization, Taekwondo, and especially Taekwondo in the states, is in need of competent and accomplished instructors, as well as those who are proficient enough in the craft to be considered dependable judges of the performance of others. I believe, therefore, that my support of [him] is necessary for the overall health of Taekwondo in the United States, and its ability to stay competitive on the international scene, and am interested in the acquisition of an international champion who can share his mastery and provide external feedback to our community.” It was our goal to prove that our client qualified for classification as an Alien of Extraordinary Ability given that he sought to remain in the United States to continue work in the area of extraordinary ability, and that his continued work would substantially and prospectively benefit the United States. With the proof and documentation that we provided, his case was approved in 8 months and 4 days.
